If I set it to 1080p how will that affect 2160p content? Will it downscale/downconvert it or have no effect at all?
From what I've pieced together it will downscale 4K content - you don't want to do that.
That is why it is a pain in the a** - you have to keep adjusting the setting depending on the source material.
I've ended up running a dedicated BD player for 1080p BDs - just so I can leave the Samsung at 2160p and not have to remember to change/check it every time I put a disk in.
Finally, for me I think my display does a better job up upconverting 1080p than the player - I can see a difference - that is why I do this. You may not have that issue and can leave the Samsung on 2160p.
You have to manually set this player to 1080p if you don't want the unit to upscale - a real PITA - maybe it will be added in the future?
LoDD, I think I remember you as an early adopter back during the format war. I jumped in too, but only after a dual-format player was released. Anyways, I'll buy again, but will wait and see what other 4K hardware providers come up with.
No discussion on this player on this thread for over a year but I just got a new update last night. Glad to see they're still sending us updates on this player which will be 2 years old in February 2018.
