Android/iOS controlled HDMI Switch?

Maybe this already exists, but I can't seem to find it. Instead of a mechanical switchbox that switches between various sources (eg "turntable", "radio", "internet", "tv", etc.) this device would consist of a series of icons on, say, a tablet. Each icon would represent an alternative source, or a general heading for a subset of sources, to drive the loudspeaker.

Tapping the "TV" icon, for example, would cause the TV to turn on, and would connect the TV audio to the loudspeakers. The "switchbox" program would, I assume, have to communicate with some kind of electric switchbox to accomplish this.

Does this sort of thing exist?

There are a number of app-controllable AVRs, if that's sort of what you're looking for. Most of the functions found on ordinary remote controls are mirrored in the AVRs' apps. Change inputs, stream music and what-have-you. Find more info in our AVR section.

There are also HDMI switches that are app-controlled. Wolfpack is an example.

And I think there are some Harmony remote control devices that work with an app. Might dig through our Remote Control section.

Is that kind of where you're headed?

(title changed to make more specific)

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.
