How close does the PN64D8000 come to the F8500 in quality?

Has anyone owned both of these sets? Is the F8500 vastly superior or are they close enough to be favorably comparable?

I would think the F8500 is significantly better, if for no other reason than the much better blacks. But also for the brighter whites too.

You are comparing a 2011 set to a 2013/2014 set, the F8500 was a major redesign product for Samsung so I would say it was their best plasma ever. Now the D was a beast its day and had outstanding color accuracy but plasma progressed quite a bit in the last few years.

I'm actually asking for a friend who's really come to like my 64" F8500; he's never owned a plasma. I saw that the D series was still available new on Amazon but I don't want to steer him wrong.

That's why I was wondering if it was comparable. I've never seen it in person.

I have the 60F8500 and a 51D7000. (The panels in the 7000 are the same as the 8000, web/tech features set them apart).

Both very nice, but I would agree with chunon, F8500 is on another level.
