every make of lcd/xled will have DSE to a degree so its a crap-shoot you may get one slightly better or maybe slightly worse DSE

Mine also has it. It’s mostly noticeable when there is side to side panning or a bright sky.

I’m still trying to decide if I want to take the chance with a replacement panel or try to ignore and leave as is. Too many times I’ve read people doing the panel swap and getting one that is worse or has other issues like lots of blooming or dull colors

Anyone done calibration for PC as source with the "standard" & "Game" modes there set?

For the moment I went with similar settings as for "Movie" but "PC" is much different after all in the end I was wondering if someone has done a calibration with these modes and what settings are recommended there for a base?

I wonder if flatpaneldHD rewiew settings are still good or are they now bad with the newer firmware versions?

Since you like your OLED's, I think you would like the Q9FN more. Probably worth the extra cash seeing it will be closer to the OLED quality you are used to. The XBR-75Z9D would be about the only other set that will take you where you are used to as far as performance.

It's interesting, I used to be a "directors intent" type person who was a stickler about proper calibration etc etc, but a few days ago I turned on Native color mode, and I'm actually really liking how things look with it on vs with it off. Only complaint is reds really, and I mean REALLY stand out. Also, with DirectTV and non HDR shows on Netflix/Amazon etc etc, HDR+ isn't too shabby either, really. Still can't stand Auto Motion at any setting above 0 though haha.

Hey, we're all using our eyes . It's what are we trying to accomplish that often differs. For many it's just "please entertain me in my own way". Others are in the "what were they trying to show me" club. Many directors use particular visual characteristics to shape the viewers mood. And of course everybody's eyesight has their own peculiarities. But there's no right or wrong in however one decides to view their programming. I'm kind of in between, using a 300 nit calibration over the specified 100 nit. It still retains the relative intended characteristics, I think, and it sure looks great in this TV .

Just a follow-up on a question I asked a while back. Intermittent black screen in game mode when using PlayStation Pro qnf8 65in. Turning off hdcp on the PlayStation basically on checking a box problem solved. I believe it's a firmware update needed on Samsung side because I have a ks8000 65 in downstairs PlayStation Pro hooked up and have never seen this happen.

I haven't gotten Auto Motion to do anything acceptably. At every setting but "OFF" it occasionally creates stuttering which is exactly the opposite of what it's supposed to do. The stutters happen when nothing is moving and then there's a lot of motion.

Speaking of motion... at the 6:39 mark mark for Samsung

You don't want to turn off the Auto Motion Plus setting but use the custom choice and turn Judder Reduction to 0 for for accurate reproduction of 24fps films

Mine still stutters with Automotion on 0,0. Off is the only way that stops.

Something I noticed earlier today...I had left the Picture Size Settings to 16:9 Standard with Fit to Screen set to Auto. To me the Fit to Screen settings seems backwards? If I set it to Off, the picture actually zooms in and I lose a small amount of the picture, whereas if I set it to On, it zooms out a tiny bit and I get about 1 inch more of the media I'm watching. Weird, but I guess I was thinking it worked the other way around. Anyway you guys might wanna check that setting if you haven't.

I always have it on. It seemed logical to me. Fit to Screen tells me the image will be made to fit the screen so the full content image will always be shown.

Yeah for some reason I was thinking Fit to Screen would like, blow up the picture to fill the full screen.

Well, if it's smaller it would be blown up, keeping aspect ratio of course .

Does anyone have idea why the Q8FN (even Q7FN) appears so much more brighter than X900f in best buy stores even though rtings says that X900f has higher brightness. I felt like they had intentionally lowered the saturation and brightness of X900F to make it appear inferior to the C8 and Z9F placed by side.

ARC Not Working??

I haven't been able to get ARC working (Q8fn & Denon AVR-X3400H). Spoke with Denon, then Samsung. They had me update the Q8 with the Dec 20 FW to no avil. She also ran diagnostics. I was then requested to run my optical cable (too short but made it by that much, like a rubber band) and then I got sound. She then told me that there is a KNOWN ISSUE with Q8 and ARC (maybe other models).

Anyone have ARC working (HDMI)?

(and yes I did search the whole thread)

Thanks all!

Did you make sure that the settings are correct for the Denon in the advanced menus make sure your HDMI cable is capable of Arc

Q7 and Q8 produce brighter sustainable highlights and perceivably brighter TVs in general, not sure what you're asking in every thread. however, you can't judge TVs by looking at them in a Best Buy store.

Well I thought I had everything working before Christmas. I even had Denon & Samsung check my connections. I know there are a lot of settings but if someone could document the settings it would be great! Or if there is a link? I would rather get the setting from the "real life users" rather than someone reading from a script.

I did switch from a good cable to this which should suffice..Mediabridge HDMI Cable (15 Feet) Supports 4K@60Hz, High Speed, Hand-Tested, HDMI 2.0 Ready - UHD, 18Gbps, Audio Return Channel

Thanks for the help and if someone can point me in the right direction or helpful tip I would appreciate it. I have RTFM (both) and searched. One thing that is odd is that for any device my option is TV Speaker OR Audio Output/Optical. Should there be a HDMI Sound Output? Is that normal?

That's great to hear! Is there an issue with my particular Denon 3400 and Samsung? Hate to ask but do you have your settings documented? I did see one youtube were someone suggested to basically initialize the Samsung to Default setting with all devices powered up then set the settings for the ARC. HDMI can be a do some odd things.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!

Samsung Q8 and Denon 3400 ARC Question

Still having problems getting ARC working again. Samsung Q8FN & Denon AVR-X3400H.

My question is does your Samsung TV recognize the Denon receiver or do you have to manually set up the Denon on the Samsung?

Thanks!!

EDIT: I'm so Dumb.....Unplugged TV (hard to get to due to walmount) and now I have option for HDMI Audio! I had tried the power button (holding down) but I guess that doesn't completely power it down....

Thanks for all of the help....I'm sure I will have more dumb questions to come!

I just got my 75" q8fn and I'm having the arc issue with my Nakamichi shockwafe Ultra 9.2 sound bar. No sound via arc. The TV is updated to the December firmware and sound bar has its latest update. The TV detects the soundbar and I have the TV sound settings set to Bitstream and dolby digital. Any suggestions?
