Wanted to update. I'm getting a M80-D3 from Costco in a few days. They are currently $3,899. They are going to put in on sale shortly, and if you want, you can take your receipt back and get the difference back if you want to, which is awesome.

Now, here's the really good news! If you buy this tv from Costco, it will come with a 2 year warranty. If you buy it with the Costco Citi Visa card, you get a 5 year warranty from Costco, for FREE. Yes, free! Then, if you want, you can purchase the square trade warranty from Costco, and get 2 more additional years on-top of the 5 years for $89, which gets you 7 YEARS OF WARRANTY! It's a no-brainer! I'll never buy another tv from anywhere but Costco.

I know this sounds crazy, but I spoke with the store manager all about it, and this is the new warranty policy that started not that long ago.

Not sure, but you are better to get it now since thanksgiving is coming and they will sell out. Get now, and they will refund back when it goes on sale.

Were you interested in the 75" P series at all? If so, what made you choose the 80" over the 75?

I'm currently going back and forth over which one to buy

No, I have always tried to go as big as I could with the space I have and have never looked back. BUT, I've seen the P and honestly don't think it makes a huge difference. The contrast on this thing is stellar. Go with the 80" and never look back.

Recent review posted by someone that looked at both:

""The picture on this thing is amazing. The smart features that some people complain about may not even affect you. We have this and an apple TV and things work on both equally as well - you aren't forced to use the tablet if you don't want to. I comment to my wife at least a couple times each show how good the picture looks. I'm thoroughly impressed with the product that Vizio has put out with this. I was a little wary going with the M series instead of the P series - given the P75 is $3800 but has "better" features. Honestly - for the average person - I don't see how the picture could get any better for daily use, so for an extra $100 we chose Costco and an extra 5" of screen size. I haven't done all the nitpicky little tests that COULD get done on this - but in real world use, for the average family, this thing is epic.""

Do you believe there are a lot of issues with these M Series 80" sets or what we see on this forum is a very small sample.

Have you played any HDR Games yet?

I haven't heard of any issues on 80" yet, but the reviews on Costco and Sam's club for this 80" are stellar. Not yet, still have an old Xbox 360, but everything I read says it does well if you have it on the correct HDMI with low lag.

Some recent reviews:

"I receive the the Vizio M80-D3 three days ago and must say that it is the perfect tv for me and my family. I researched TV's for months and settled on this one because of the 80 inch size, the fact that it has both HDR10 and Dolby Vision, it is 8, 10, and 12 bit wide color gamut compatible, it has 2160p UHD 4K resolution, it is has full array led backlighting which makes the blacks look perfect, is has no perceivable motion blur, and you can stream Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, and YouTube all in 4K with HDR and you can game in HDR 4K with it utilizing the Xbox One S. It also streams HBO, HULU, Showtime, STARZ, Cinemax, Epix, etc. This picture is bright and the colors pop, most importantly the blacks are super black not grey and it is super sharp. Everything is super easy to control as well because you can either control it all with the included tablet that works great or with your iPhone, it's super user friendly. I love this TV and highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a large tv, I was skeptical of VIZIO and was looking at a 75" Sony X940D also but this tv blows that one away completely overall and you get an additional 5 inches of viewing real estate and both HDR formats for $500 less. I recommend buying it with an Xbox One S so that you can watch UHD 4K Blu-rays on the TV, you will be blown away at how mindblowingly amazing movies look now. Also with you can use the Xbox One S to upconvert your cable to 4K into the TV because it has a HDMI input. Simply put buy the Vizio M80-D3 if you want to get all of today's top TV technologies in a huge size for the best price."

How bright is it compared to your old Plasma? My wife watches her normal shows and I watch sports on the weekend and movies at night time.

My concerns are how well the picture quality is, and how well it'll handle motion.

What I really need is Apple TV 5 w/4K HDR! ATSC 3.0 (4K/HDR) too... http://atsc.org

Amazon needs to support Google Cast and needs an tvOS app!

My M80-D3 has been in my place since 01-Nov, coming from a '14 P70.

MUCH! You will love it. Stuff pops and it's clear as day. You can't go wrong if you get it from Costco.

Yes, I agree. It fits in there perfect. Yes, just watched the Patriots game the other night and it looked great.

No. People sometimes get obsessed with numbers on these forums. There are 10 bit tv's that have *****ty dithering where a decent 8 bit panel look better. I can show you links about what I'm talking about. I've pretty much seen all of them now and the 80" is worth every penny for that extra 5". If you go with the 75", you're always going to wish you had the 80" anyway.

The 80" is the one I'd buy. From 75" to 80" makes such a difference and I wonder if Vizio has plans for a 80" P series? Size then brightness and deep blacks are the things I look for. When I think to pull the trigger my brain get's in the way.

These are just my opinions.

But is it not an issue the 80" has brightness issues in HDR when compared to the 75"P?

No, there will NOT be an 80" P. It was confimed, there won't be one, not to worry. Just go grab that 80" while you can. Specials going on as we speak. I also got the 7 year warranty from Costco, which is peanuts!

Happy thanksgiving from my 80" to yours

I can't believe the 80" M will not have a 10bit panel in 2017. But will not be buyable till ... What... June?

A real good post on the Vizio over in the leEco TV thread....
You are basing your opinion on what? I have an M80-D3 and I can tell you that the VUDU Star Trek Beyond is absolutely stunning when compared to non-HDR 1080P. Darks and lights and colors in contrasting scenes are accentuated greatly.
HDR content is mastered in a different manner that will generally better utilize any TV's capabilities if they go beyond the boundaries of SDR, so the comparison between the two versions isn't really fair.

When you compare the KU6300 and the Vizio M, the Vizio will usually have better picture quality overall for native resolution content thanks to its FALD. For HDR content, though, they both don't have a wide color gamut, the Samsung gets slightly brighter and has a higher bit depth so it won't have any issues with banding. It's definitely more capable in that regard. The difference is minimal, though, since they both are quite limited when it comes to HDR.
The M series has better overall picture quality, and according to most reviewers actually has a little benefit when using HDR (unlike the KU6300). There is no way this TV will approach the P series, like someone said you get what you pay for.
Yes, it does have better picture quality in UHD, mostly thanks to very good local dimming, but for HDR they both are restricted by their capabilities. The Vizio M will suffer from banding because of its lower color depth, which is less of an issue on the KU6300 since it has like higher end models a 10-bit panel.
