Are you a Sub Collector?

I'm on my 3rd home theater, and I am finding it difficult to throw things away. As a result, I have collected a number of subs over the years.

The worst part is that I'm in the process of building 4 new ones (mini-martys).
Do I have a problem? Do I need to go see someone about this??

p.s. not shown in the picture above is my current HT also has 2 Triad in-wall subs..

I'm in a studio apartment so I don't have space to collect much stuff like that. I sell my old stuff to fund more projects.

Shield TV → M43-C1 → miniDSP 2x4 HD → (Behringer A500 → KEF Q100s) | (iNUKE 6000 DSP → Two UM-18 Mini Marties)

I'm not sure if I would consider myself a collector yet, but I still have all the subwoofers and cabinets I've built over the years. I still have my original JL Audio 12" in a transmission line cabinet with a Dayton Audio 250w plate amp and the ported cabinet I built for it when it was used as a car audio subwoofer. And more recently, I've got three 18's in cabinets that I'm currently using, and another pair of 18s still in the shipping boxes that I haven't figured out what to do with yet. And I'm already eyeing up a 21" .... for another project to play around with.

I should sell my stryke he15 from Tc but I can’t do it. It’s a work of art, ridiculous inductance and all.

Hi. I'm Robert and I have a subwoofer addiction problem.

It's mostly from deals that I couldn't pass up. The liquidation of Ascendant Audio Atlas drivers. I have a pair of 12's. The liquidation of Blueprint Audio. I have a pair of 3 1001's and a 1201. I have an Exodus Audio Maelstrom 21. I even have a Vamp Audio 12 (bonus points if you know this one).

If driver liquidations weren't enough, I got caught up in parts liquidation. High Desert Audio was selling old Rockford Fosgate parts on Ebay. I ended up with a pair of Lightning Audio Storm ceramic motors and 4 of the neo motors. The ceramic motors are currently attached to a pair of 15" TC-3000 titanium cone top assemblies. I have parts (mostly from Sundown Audio) to build top 15" assemblies for the neo motors. I also bought 8 TC-9 motors from TC Sounds. Four are mated with 18" Fi Car Audio IB soft parts. Four will be built into LMS 12" subs using Sundown cones and Elemental Designs 13" baskets.

I like unusual subs. My wife and niece run 12" subs made from Diamond Audio motors and baskets with custom soft parts from Fix My Speaker. I have a 15" sub with a 90 pound motor (name escapes me now), Eclipse Ti basket and FMS soft parts. I even traded someone for a FMS built 18" TC-3000. I've also owned Elemental Designs flat subs (TC Sounds built), SVS drivers built by TC-Sounds. The Ultra driver still had the Audiomobile sticker under the magnet boot. I even have some old Stryke Audio 12's and Lamba Acoustic 10's. I almost sold my TC Sounds OEM 12's to a guy in England but shipping is a pain.

Here's a frankensub I built. It has a TC Sounds TC-7 motor with a bunch of copper on the pole piece. The voice coil and spider came out of a TC-2000 top assembly that had a deformed aluminum cone. The cone came from the "yard sale" at Sundown Audio. The basket was bought at Car Audio Classifieds. It's a 3 spoke basket and the seller didn't know where it came from. I've never seen another. I traded the sub for an amp and this guy made a video. It's a killer SQ sub that is somewhere in Wisconsin now.

Yesss. After we move. Need to work out a workable design tapped horn where the driver is displayed.
